According to the characteristics of the cover tape and the carrier tape being bonded and peeled off from the carrier tape, the cover tape can be divided into three types, a heat-sensitive cover tape (HAA), a pressure-sensitive cover tape (PSA) and a new universal cover tape (UCT).
1. Thermal Cover Tape (HAA)
The sealing of the heat-sensitive cover tape is applied by the sealing machine through a sealing presser foot to apply a certain temperature and pressure, so that the hot-melt adhesive of the cover tape is melt-compressed and pressed on the sealing surface of the carrier tape to achieve sealing. The heat-sensitive cover tape has no stickiness at normal temperature and is sticky after heating.
2. Pressure sensitive cover tape (PSA)
The sealing of the pressure sensitive cover tape is performed by a sealer applying a continuous pressure through a pressure roller to bond the pressure sensitive adhesive of the cover tape to the carrier tape. The two sides of the pressure-sensitive cover tape are viscous at normal temperature and can be used without heating.
3. New Universal Cover Tape (UCT)
The cover tape on the market mainly controls the peeling force by the adhesive force of the glue. However, the adhesive force will be different when the same adhesive is used with different surface materials, and the adhesive force of the adhesive is different in different temperature environments. There will also be changes under aging conditions, and sometimes there will be residual glue contamination during stripping. In order to solve these specific problems, a new universal cover tape is introduced on the market, which no longer relies on the adhesive force of the glue to control the peeling. Force, but through the precise machining, cut two deep grooves on the base film of the cover tape. When peeling, the cover tape is torn along the groove. The peeling force is independent of the adhesive force of the glue, only the depth of the groove and the mechanical mechanism of the film. The effect of strength to ensure the stability of the peel force. In addition, since only the middle portion of the cover tape is peeled off during peeling, and both sides of the cover tape still adhere to the sealing line left on the carrier tape, the contamination of the equipment and components by the residual glue and debris is also effectively reduced.
