Natural Color ABS Film is a specialty thermoplastic film designed specifically for In-Mold Decoration technologies. It is based on Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene resin and retains the material's natural light beige/semi-translucent appearance. This film is used in IMD and FIM processes, where a pre-printed decorative film is back-injected with plastic resin during the injection molding cycle. This creates a permanent fusion between the decorative layer and the plastic substrate, ensuring a scratch-resistant, chemically resistant, and durably vibrant finish.

Product Introduction

This film is fully compatible with the standard FIM/IMD process:

Printing : Reverse printing on the backside of the film places the ink layer between the film and the plastic. This ensures the graphics are permanently protected from wear and chemicals.
Forming : The flat printed film is thermoformed or high-pressure formed into the final 3D shape (e.g., button curvature, housing contour).
Trimming : Excess material is precision-trimmed.
Injection Molding : The formed film is placed into the injection mold, and molten ABS or PC/ABS resin is injected behind it. The high-temperature resin activates the bonding layer on the back of the film, fusing it permanently with the molded part.
